The Best Part of Going to See GI Joe Last Night

Cobra Commander and The Baroness at the Alamo: Better than the versions of the characters in the movie

Upcoming Genre TV To Be Scared Of

Courtesy of Sci Fi site IO9, first off we've got Warren Ellis and G.I. Joe:

"The idea was, as I understand it, that bringing in a writer with absolutely no nostalgia for the property would give them the tone they were looking for. I think they were happy when I presented them with the initial list of characters I was going to just kill. And then the list of things I was going to blow up."

Uh oh. And further...

"I’ve never even seen a GI JOE. Couldn’t tell you what they look like if you paid me. I know nothing about GI JOE. It is meaningless in my world.

Excellent, Sam said. Just the guy we need."

UH OH.

Ellis may in fact give us the G.I. Joe for those who fucking hate G.I. Joe.

Then there's this script overview of an episode of the new Knight Rider show, a show due almost entirely to the famine like conditions of the fall schedule after the writer's strike. To sum up:

"The good news is, KITT is a car of many talents. Including a 3-D "inkjet" printer that can create a fake key for any car, a special spray that can stop bleeding, and a "cylon laser." Oh, and the ability to help you pick up the hottest girl in any bar by feeding you exactly the right poetry."

Fucking COOL.

The band is Zombie Zombie.

This is their musical tribute to G.I. Joe, stop motion animation, John Carpenter's The Thing, and John Carpenter's dark techno movie scores.

It's like it was made for ME.

Let's get mellow.

Yes, friends, there was a time when the mighty terrorist organization, Cobra, tried to take over the world with 80s hair metal. Dare you risk falling under their trance?

Cold Slither takes the stage!

Edit: forgot to credit Nick with finding this one. Nick, I dub you honorary stage manager for Cold Slither. Congratulations?

GI Joe movie costumes leaked...

Apparently the studio's making websites take 'em down, but the truth is out there and my particular source is the Bendis board. Check 'em out right here.

Now...they're drab. Annoyingly drab. It looks like everyone's indeed wearing a variant of black body armor. And for some reason Snake-Eyes' mouth is clearly defined even though he's supposed to be wearing a mask.

BUT... for movie purposes, they'll probably do, same as the drab Transformers designs. Some even look halfway decent on their own merits. The Baroness is reasonably hot, Hawk might look better when he's not posing, and Scarlet...well, at least she's carrying a crossbow.

(oh, and if you go to the previous page at Bendis's board, you can see more thumbnails and someone's attempt to color-correct Scarlet's armor to look like her more traditional colors.)

G.I. Jane brings teh hotness

I caught this on another message board. Nothing crazy-remarkable - just some soldiers dancing goofily to "Billy Jean" in front of a camcorder, but there's something so super-cute about the girl I'm compelled to post it. She reminds me of Tara from Buffy, and that's not a bad thing.

Her back-up guy, however, reminds me more of Officer Dangle from Reno 911. And somehow that works, too.

New GI Joe Movie Logo

MTV has a sneak peek. No red, white and blue to avoid offending overseas markets.

It's a minor thing, and honestly it's not a *bad* logo, but it's another of the "death of a thousand cuts of suck" that seems to be affecting this movie.
