ALSO not Halloween related, but...
Got the new trailer here for the Warhammer 40K CGI movie. Crank up the volume for it. I wish the animation was a touch better, especially the mouth animation, but turning up the volume paves over some of the defects and makes you want to burn some Chaos Daemons.
Ultra-testosterone trailer for The Expendables
I wish I believed this movie could be good. Whatever the case, this anti-chick-flick trailer is pretty entertaining:
The greatest video game never made:
Even though this sprite-animated cartoon looks just like you're watching a video game, I recommend watching it all the way through. It's like underground video game psychedelia! Features guest appearance by Christopher Walken and John Goodman from The Big Lebowski!
Oh, and if you type "Paul Robertson" into YouTube you'll get all kinds of other freaky stuff he's done.

Holy shit, MORTAL KOMBAT by way of SE7EN
Nobody seems to know quite what this is yet, but it looks like a SE7EN-style overhaul of Mortal Kombat - either the set-up for a new game franchise or a teaser for an upcoming movie. Either way, it's surprisingly twisted and gory and it's got one really well-staged fight.
Red Dead Redemption
Been eyeing this upcoming Western game for the XBox and this trailer has me chompin' at the bit. It highlights the weapons of the game, slightly more progressive than most Westerns because it's set post-1900 in the twilight of the Old West (ala The Wild Bunch).
Anyway, it's cool! I suggest opening up the vid at YouTube's actual site so you can watch it in a much larger format, or just watching it on an XBox. But in a pinch...

Dante's Inferno: The Video Game
Has anyone played the demo for this yet? It's in the style of God of War and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where you fight off hordes of enemies, earn lots of combos, weaken big bosses with normal attacks, and eventually take them out in cinematic sequences by pressing certain buttons when prompted.
Lame, right? Naw, man.
I just played the demo, and for all that it's derivative in gameplay, it was WILDLY ENTERTAINING. It's metal beyond all games ever. It's got gore, nudity, and Heavy Metal-style animated sequences. It's unbelievably crass in how it weds the epic poem with brutally awesome combat, but wed them it does...right down to the inclusion of lurid scenes of a nude Beatrice and a cooly creepy visualization of Dante's guide, Virgil.
The demo starts out pedestrian but by the end I wanted to buy the game. And I don't even usually like these kinds of games! Increasingly stunning visuals, too. Genuinely disturbing.
I should very much like to see more people posting their Hot List...

TRICK 'R TREAT

And so, the Halloween Blogstravaganza returns! Once again, I'm shooting for at least one scaaaaaaary-themed post a day till Halloween, and everyone's invited to join in. Don't be shy. I know you're all freaks.
First up, because Nate was just talking about how the movie Trick 'R Treat is having trouble marketing itself, is the creepy little animated short that inspired it. I've attached the trailer for the movie itself afterwards. Note to Anna Paquin fetishists: this movie features Anna Paquin.
Nightmare on Elm Street remake
Bay produces, though doesn't direct. Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach) takes lead role. Almost certainly unnecessary, but it's not a bad trailer...

Giant Robots Fuckin' Shit Up!
I've never been a *huge* Mechwarrior fan, but this trailer makes the game look like a lot of fun, and it's multi-platform, so I'm betting that means XBox Live multiplayer.

Less demon trailers, more exploding shit trailers!
Roland "Independence Day" Emmerich's 2012:
I have to confess to some guilty pleasure interest. Independenace Day is quite watchable, as is his other future-disaster movie, The Day After Tomorrow. In the "fail" column we have The Patriot, Godzilla and 10000 B.C. Maybe a Netflix.

Jennifer's Body
Red Band Trailer for the new Diablo Cody-penned, Megan Fox-starring movie about an evil demon-possessed cheerleader carving her way through high school boys.
I have to admit, I didn't think I'd have any interest, being at best moderately interested in horror and actively disinterested in Megan Fox, but... it's a pretty fun trailer.
