Holy shit, MORTAL KOMBAT by way of SE7EN
Nobody seems to know quite what this is yet, but it looks like a SE7EN-style overhaul of Mortal Kombat - either the set-up for a new game franchise or a teaser for an upcoming movie. Either way, it's surprisingly twisted and gory and it's got one really well-staged fight.

Yes, it's 70 minutes long. 70 FOOKIN' MINUTES!!
But here's the thing. After I decided to watch a few minutes on a whim the other day, certain it'd be overkill. I was wrong. I became addicated and watched the entire thing in one fell swoop. I found it to be one of the funniest, most awesome things I've seen all year. It builds and builds on itself and the editing is amazing. It is, without a doubt, the most hilarious, insightful overview of the prequel trilogy ever.
Here, then, is the review in its entirety. I highly suggest giving it at least an episode or two if you've got some Star Wars love (or hate).

MONSTER MASH-UP - Alright, here’s the deal: you're scoring the trailers for several upcoming horror movies, so put your iPod or MP3 player of choice on shuffle and post the first song you hit for each trailer. That song is the centerpiece of the trailer, and these are the featured monsters:1) Vampire

4) Slasher
5) Creature from the Black Lagoon (I say it's time for a comeback)
You might want to skip the orchestral stuff to avoid being too on the nose, but the important thing is to then offer up a few lines for each movie explaining how the music fits the trailer. Is it a creepy fit? Does it turn the movie comedic? My test-run will be in the comments.
The secrets of FRIDAY THE 13's music -- REVEALED!!
Came across this looking up the word leitmotif on Wikipedia. Leitmotifs are musical themes associated with a particular character, place or idea. They're all over classical music, but a modern example everyone knows would be Darth Vader's "Imperial March."
Or the familiar "ch-ch-ch ha-ha-ha" of Jason in Friday the 13th. Now, at last, know its origin...
In the Friday the 13th film series, Harry Manfredini implemented a vocal effect to indicate the presence of the killer. While watching a rough cut of the original Friday the 13th, and while contemplating a leitmotif for the picture, the line "Kill her, mommy", entranced Manfredini. He distilled the line down to "kill mom", and then truncated it even further into "ki" and "ma". He then spoke each syllable a single time into an Echoplex, creating the signature "ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma" motif that went on to be used in each subsequent sequel. Often this is not realised to be ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma, and often people falsely believe it to be ch-ch-ch ha-ha-ha, and reportedly Manfredini responds by saying "Everybody thinks it's cha, cha, cha. I'm like, 'Cha, cha, cha? What are you talking about?"
Arkham Asylum
Got another trailer for a DC-themed video game here, and this one - Arkham Asylum - looks much better than the MMO! Seems to be 3rd-person with equal parts action and stealth, and being set in Arkham, I suspect it'll play a little like a horror game to boot.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall has married co-star Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his sister on the television show, the actor's representative said on Friday.
They wed on New Year's Eve in picturesque Big Sur, California, and she had a wedding ring linked to a bouquet, Hall's representative Craig Bankey said in a statement.
The ring was passed down from Carpenter's grandfather.
In "Dexter," Hall plays Dexter Morgan, a Miami police analyst who moonlights as a serial killer targeting sociopaths. Carpenter plays Debra Morgan, Dexter's adoptive sister, a tomboyish cop. "Dexter" is on U.S. cable channel Showtime.
Hall, 37, and Carpenter, 29, dated for a year and-a-half before being married, Bankey said.

I couldn't help but post a tidbit of gossip about our favorite serial killer turned perv. Apparently, Micheal C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are dating (Dexter and Deb, in case you're a bit slow on the draw). I know this because I caught them gettin' it on in the elevator with my camera phone.
On a side note: I guess he will forever be David from Six Feet Under to me because when I heard about this, my immediate reaction was, "ummm, why is he dating a girl if he's gay?"
