New TERMINATOR: SALVATION trailer

I'm kinda digging the Road Warrior aesthetic. Definitely a reinvention of the franchise.

Alright, let's keep Randy's meme going. Instruction reminder...

1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question.
4. Post the results here in a new post or in the comments.
Now I may try this again without movie and video game soundtracks figured in, but the first run through includes everything I've got...

Q: What does next year have in store for you?

"Malagueña" by Brian Setzer - Literal translation of Malagueña: "a Spanish woman from Málaga in Spain." And we're off to a good start! Unless she's a hideous old crone of a peasant, in which case I will cast her out.

Q: What does your love life look like next year?

"Wunderkind" by Alanis Morissette (from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe soundtrack) - Let's see, a wunderkind is a child prodigee. Oh, dude...that's fucked up.

Q: What do you say when life gets hard?

"Cabaret" by Liza Minelli - Where better to drown my sorrows than at a German burlesque club?

Q: Song that reminds you of good times?

"When My Baby Left Me" by Junior Wells - What? She was a total B and the day I escaped her leash was a great one.

Q: What do you think when you get up in the morning?

"Mambo, Pt. 2" by Machito - It's time...

To...

DANCE!!

Q: What song will you dance to at your wedding?

"Rocket 88" by His Delta Cats & Jackie Brenston - This is a kick-ass, boogie-woogie blues number. This wedding's gonna swing, cats.

Q: Song that reminds you of your first kiss?

"The Vikings (Dancing on the Oars)" from the movie The Vikings - Shut up, I was drunk.

Q: Your favourite saying?

"You're Not Here" by Melissa Williamson (Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack) - The problem, of course, is that no one's ever around to hear my favorite saying.

Q: Favourite place?

"Main Viewing Screen" from a collection of classic Star Trek sound effects - Yeah, I am kind of a Trek dork. Of course I like hangin' out on the bridge.

Q: Most Missed Memory?

"Not Long for this World" by Kelly Willis - I sure do miss the days when I was terminally ill!

Q: What song describes your best friend?

"Escape" by Bernard Herrmann (soundtrack to the original Day the Earth Stood Still) - What can I say, the dude loves Journey's seventh album, and seeing as how it gave us "Don't Stop Believing", "Who's Crying Now" and "Open Arms", who can blame him?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_(Journey_album)

Q: What song describes your ex?

"Evil Ways" by Cal Tjader & Carmen McRae - Kinda self-explanatory, right?

Q: Where would you go on a first date?

"Na Herese Ke Naglentas" by Daniel Fox - It's an album of violin music from the Middle East. I don't know why the ladies are avoiding me. It'd be just the two of us, a bottle of wine, and the sounds of gunfire and car bombs as the sun sets over Baghdad.

Q: Drug of choice?

"Layla" by Eric Clapton - Me and Clapton BOTH want George Harrison's wife. He wants to sleep with her, I want to snort her, but still...it's a connection.

Q: What song describes yourself?

"Sharn: City of Towers" from the Eberron Soundtrack - True story: not two days ago one of the customers at the store told me, "Dude, you're such a city of towers." I was, like, "No way." And he was all, "You so are."

After a bit of self-reflection, I realize it's true.

Q: What is the thing you like doing most?

"If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day" by the Asylum Street Spankers - Judging people in the End Times, that's what Dave loves! Unfortunately my favorite thing can really only happen once. I might need a new hobby.

Q: The song that best describes the president?

"Grand Master Mika" from the Final Fantasy X soundtrack - It's a cooler-sounding title than President, that's for sure.

Q: Where will you be in 10 years?

"Claudette" by Roy Orbison - Hey, this Claudette babe sounds pretty okay! But wait, do parents even name girls Claudette any more? Maybe this is a Monkey's Paw kind of thing, and Claudette is gonna be the name of the human internment camp when Skynet takes over! OMG that not make no sense, but still is very scary!!

Q: Your love life right now?

"Is This Love" by Bob Marley - Yeah, I've never been Mr. Confidence.

Q: What is your state of mind like at the moment?

"Start the Fire" by No Doubt - Oh, did I mention my pyromania?

Q: How will you die?

"Strut C - Dining Hall" from the Metal Gear Solid 2 soundtrack - Very specific, I know. My suspicion is that Strut C is a location somewhere inside Prison Camp Claudette. DAMN YOU, SKYNET. DAMN YOU TO HELL.

This is what you find

New Terminators

There's a line in the teaser for the next Terminator flick, something like, "The future didn't happen the way my mother said it would." Seems like time-travel wonkiness has altered the rise of Skynet, in effect giving the writers the opportunity to break from the predistined beats of James Cameron's "Judgement Day." NOW...we know it'll never live up to the first two, but Christian Bale as John Connor seems cool, and these just-leaked concept art pieces do kick some ass:

*EDIT: meant to add that these look even cooler when biggie-sized. Click 'em!

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

But actually, the latest episode won me over. I still have some gripes, but I'm starting to dig the show.

First episode of the Sarah Conner Chronicles free at Yahoo for the next 24 hours...

I know David Lynch might find the screen size questionable, but I'm betting it's about what the material is worth.

Haven't watched it yet, m'self, but somebody should!

Fookin' COOL.

Has anyone posted about Theo Jansen on the blog before? He's the nutty-cool artist behind a variety of "walking sculpures" he sets loose on beaches. I think they used some of his stuff on a car ad, but don't let that put you off. It's still awesome.

A quick sample:

This one runs a few minutes, has a bunch more, and features the artist himself:

Continuing the Terminator motif...

Here's the trailer for the new series. Did someone post it previously? I can't remember, so here it is for the first time. Or possibly the second:

Yeah, I'm afraid it's looking entirely too "Smallville Terminator" to me with the prettified cast. I think the concept demands a big budget and/or actors who sell the hell out of the concept the way Linda Hamilton did in T2, and I don't think this show's gonna quite come through on either count.

Here's another clip:

And another:

Lesbianator!

Sarah Connor Chronicles

OK, with the writer's strike it's probably already doomed anyway, but here are four promo posters for Fox's January Terminator spinoff. I have to say, Summer Glau (River from Serenity) is good casting for a cyborg, and the three posters featuring her are promising... but their choice for Sarah Conner? Looks too waifish and hot for me. Linda Hamilton was a badass in T2, and that's the version of the character we're getting, so she shouldn't look like a girl who can't even finish a salad.
