Colbert to Palin: "F___ing retard"

You gotta watch an ad before the clip, but it's worth it :)

Wild Boasts and Baseless Claims

So I heard some talk about a study while listening to BBC World Service.  Unfortunately, I can't find the study in print or online anywhere, so I'm just giving you second hand claims that I can't evidence.  But I heard it on the radio, so it must be true right?

It was a study of what your cigarette brand says about you and how you culturally identify yourself.  There was a ton of info associated with the study, but the two parts that popped for me were:

A) Marlboro smokers were most likely to identify themselves as republican voters.
B) Camel smokers were likely to identify themselves as part of some counter culture.

Totally suspected this for years and felt it was the case, but I never knew it was accurate and not just my gut feeling that was based on nothing substantial.

NSFW is putting it mildly...

"Audio excerpts" of Sarah Palin's book as heard on Howard Stern...

(it's a little overlong, but there are some awesomely horrible gems even a little ways into it)

Don't Eff with Google

It seems that Google has busted the Chinese government in cyber attacks on Google meant to gather info on anti-Chinese-govt free speach activists, and now Google is pissed. They've decided censoring search results on the Chinese version of Google is something they're no longer willing to do.

From the official google blog:

These attacks and the surveillance they have uncovered—combined with the attempts over the past year to further limit free speech on the web—have led us to conclude that we should review the feasibility of our business operations in China. We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.

Use Twitter? Time to change your password.

Even if you just have a Twitter account you signed up for once upon a time and then abandoned, and especially if you use your Twitter password for other sites.

Last night the DNS redirect for Twitter.com was compromised to point to a site featured in the screenshot. This means the hackers had access to twitter's database files... and your password/username combination.

Seems this may be a response to the part Twitter played in the recently failed Iranian uprising as the folowing translation is being reported by Techcrunch.com:

“In the name of God, As an Iranian this is a reaction to Twitter’s interference sly which was U.S. authorities ordered in the internal affairs of my country…”

Maybe the Mayans Knew What They Were Talking About?

I saw this floating around some message boards. It seems there is somewhat wide spread talk about a draft Palin/Beck movement among the Tea Party Republicans. So much so, that Palin even mentioned it herself recently.

What might make this funny and not scary? If we were talking about Beck the musician instead of Glen Beck :D

There's a Rep for That

Mean spirited, biased, intentionally incediary... sure. Oh, it's also funny... kinda.

Uh...

Yeah, I don't really know either, but I figured I'd share anyways
