RiffTrax covers TWILIGHT
For those who don't know, RiffTrax is the latest incarnation of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It works as downloadable MP3s that you simply play alongside a movie you own or rent. Pretty cool.
But in the short term, someone just YouTubed a highlight reel of some of the best moments of the RiffTrax guys taking on...

Stand By Me
A little schmaltzy in a 'buy the world a Coke' way, but an impressive execution of a great idea.
Nixon vs. Homos
Remember that Archie Bunker vs. Homos YouTube vid I posted a few weeks back? Well if ya missed it, go watch it.
Now ask yourself...what if then-President Richard Nixon had discussed that episode with his Chief of Staff? With a tape recorder running? And it eventually made its way to YouTube in the year 2009?

Not...dead...yet...
And for the last night of the Halloween Blogstravaganza, a little class...Old Time Radio selections (with awesomely cool old time radio ads ta boot):
Orson Welles' in The Hitchhiker
Vincent Price in Three Skeleton Key (a particularly famous radio outing featuring a lighthouse overrun by rats and some really creepy moments)
H.P. Lovecraft busts a pretty decent rhyme...
Hallowe’en in a Suburb
The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see the vampires fly,
And the harpies of upper air,
That flutter and laugh and stare.
For the village dead to the moon outspread
Never shone in the sunset’s gleam,
But grew out of the deep that the dead years keep
Where the rivers of madness stream
Down the gulfs to a pit of dream.
A chill wind blows through the rows of sheaves
In the meadows that shimmer pale,
And comes to twine where the headstones shine
And the ghouls of the churchyard wail
For harvests that fly and fail.
Not a breath of the strange grey gods of change
That tore from the past its own
Can quicken this hour, when a spectral power
Spreads sleep o’er the cosmic throne,
And looses the vast unknown.
So here again stretch the vale and plain
That moons long-forgotten saw,
And the dead leap gay in the pallid ray,
Sprung out of the tomb’s black maw
To shake all the world with awe.
And all that the morn shall greet forlorn,
The ugliness and the pest
Of rows where thick rise the stones and brick,
Shall some day be with the rest,
And brood with the shades unblest.
Then wild in the dark let the lemurs bark,
And the leprous spires ascend;
For new and old alike in the fold
Of horror and death are penned,
For the hounds of Time to rend.

Awesomely Awful Metal!!!
"Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce (The kings of cheeseball metal)
Metallica's "Battery" covered by Van Canto (Nearly acapella metal group consisting of a drummer and 5 singers, watch for the super bad vocal guitar solo. Anybody surprised they're from Germany?)
"Stumped" by Goblin Cock (Black hooded heavy metal comic geeks, post apocalyptic warrior softball girls, and the ever present robot threat)

Andy Griffith vs. The Patriot Act
This is kinda cool. Was a video clip of the old Andy Griffith show uploaded to YouTube that had Andy schooling li'l Opie on the importance of due process. CBS' lawyers had it taken down - certainly within their rights - but it's telling that they had that particular video taken down...and not any of the dozens of other Andy Griffith videos.
Anyway, best I can do is provide an audio of the scene played by conspiratorial radio host, Alex Jones. Don't let him scare you off, though - the idealism of the clip is worth it:
